Travel Diary at Rothenburg

Accommodation

It was a really tough choice to choose a new place to stay. It needs to be close enough to Rothenburg, but also need to be accessible to the Allgau Skyline Theme Park, and able to reach Neuschwanstein Castle at a reasonable distance. I was planning to stay something around Ulm, but we ended up staying at Babenhausen, around one and a half hour drive west of Munich city centre. The apartment is quite new, has a big backyard with a playground for the kids.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

It took us around 2 hours drive to reach Rothenberg. Yes, I was a bit far, but considering our next destinations is further to the south west, staying in Babenhausen was the best option. Of course, if you are planning to stay for a few days around Rothenburg, and your next destination is somewhere further to the north such as such as Nuremburg or Frankfurt, then it would be worthwhile staying somewhere closer.

It was quite easy to find parking on the streets on a Saturday, we arrived around 11am and the place was plain beautiful. The best place to visit includes the Town Hall Tower, St James Church, St Jacob Church, and of course, our family’s favourite would be the Kathe Wohlfahrt (the Christmas shop).
